About the Project
The refurbishment of Porto Bay Blue Ocean in Albufeira is a landmark project in the redevelopment of high-quality hotels in the Algarve. Huître carried out the complete refurbishment of the hotel’s most demanding areas: three outdoor swimming pools, a heated indoor pool, the premium spa area, the main lobby and all dining and circulation spaces. The design proposal prioritised natural light, comfort and a contemporary atmosphere that enhances the extraordinary location on the Falésia.
Key Challenges
Carrying out a refurbishment of such a scale – four swimming pools, a spa, the lobby and dining areas – within a timeframe of just seven months was the major challenge of this hotel refurbishment project in the Algarve. The complete overhaul of all the swimming pools’ plumbing infrastructure, including water treatment systems, air conditioning and spa technical installations, required site planning with precise daily phasing to meet the season’s opening date.
