About the Project
The fit-out of the Skin by LMR Clinic in Cascais is a project where clinical technical complexity is concealed behind a luxury residential aesthetic. Designed by Paulo Merlini, the project has created a fluid and elegant environment where ceilings and furniture with completely rounded lines define the spatial identity. The indirect scenic lighting, natural wood finishes and copper mirrors perfectly recessed into the surfaces combine to create a sensory experience of well-being – without any medical infrastructure being visible.
Key Challenges
Modelling and executing continuous curved surfaces on ceilings and bespoke joinery required a level of craftsmanship rarely demanded in fit-out projects. The uniform application of decorative mortar finishes on curved surfaces was particularly demanding. The real challenge was to render highly complex clinical infrastructure invisible – medical networks, controlled ventilation systems, treatment-specific installations – completely concealed within the architectural elements.
